During the class of Digital Media 2 we were tasked with recreating a scene from the Zoot Suit play. During this project we were tasked with acting, filming and editing the scene. The objectives of this project were to make the various clips that we had into one continuous scene that didn’t have jump cuts or other disruptions. This is valuable to my future because it shows me that sometimes I need to take multiple small things to make into a big cohesive thing that would look really well.
As part of the project we needed to film our peers acting and then take those several scenes and make them into one long scene that made sense. In order to do this we needed to set up several cameras in order to take multiple angles of different scenes, we shot multiple versions of scenes and then choose the best out of the multiple shots. These videos were then taken into Premiere Pro so that they could be edited by us. Throughout this process I learned that sometimes we don’t get the perfect shot and have to work with what we are given, just roll with the punches. Two SLO’s that were represented in this project were thinking creatively and critically, as well as applying 21st century technological skills. The SLO of thinking creatively and critically was used when we needed to edit the clips into one video when not having the best clips. The second SLO of applying 21st century technological skills was used when we used Premiere Pro to successfully edit all of those clips into one cohesive video. The SLO that I an weakest in is being a self-directed learner who communicates effectively because when we did the acting portion of this project I wasn't comfortable acting and I could work on that. Overall from this project I learned that sometimes not all things are perfect when doing a project and we have to go along with it. Another thing that I learned is that I need to be a better communicator even when I am just acting. This will help me in my future career by making me see that not everything has to be perfectly perfect that sometimes in the end it still ok if you take multiple things and try to make it the best. |
