Into the Wild
“Beyond the Wild” was an essay that I wrote from my English 4 class, in this class we are taught to evaluate works of literature and see their effects. This is valuable to use in everyday life since we do read news and other things alike almost everyday. With this particular project we analyzed the journey that Chris McCandless took when going into the wild by himself for almost a year.
Like stated before we were tasked with writing an essay that sided whether or not we thought if people were suited for being on the road or not. We had to argue why we think that people are suited or not for the road in under 1000 words. In order to successfully write this essay I needed to put myself in the shoes of someone that had to make the decision of living on the road or not. By doing this I learned that there is a lot to sacrifice when going into the wild. There is so much that you need to leave behind.
Writing this essay helped me strengthen my skills in mastering the skills needed for college. This would really help me during college because it strengthen my writing and helps me gain perspective on other people's choices. My communication skills were also improved by effectively communicating my opinion on the matter. I however could have communicated my opinion in a better way by backing up my opinion.
In this class I have learned to explain what I think about all the literature that I have read so far. I gained perspective on all the components of what makes up a good book. These skills will help me in further English classes that I will take when going to college.
